New computer yesterday, perking along just fine. Now...it's doing something I've never encountered before. When I scroll using the wheel on the mouse the size of everything on the screen gets bigger and smaller, and doesn't scroll. What is this about and how do I fix it?
Did you install any Firefox extensions?

Someone may be able to tell you how to fix that, but for now, I would unplug the pc so it has to reboot with old settings and not save these screwed up settings...

What application are you seeing this in? When I'm in AutoCAD light the scroll wheel acts as a zoom control, when I'm in Firefox or Word it scrolls the screen.

Hm. It stopped doing it. I haven't installed any Firefox extentions. When it was doing it, Firefox wouldn't let me into any forum here. And it was doing it just surfing, no particular applications.
Start/Settings/Control Panel/Mouse
Check the settings for the wheel.

First, is it a Wintel PC ? ;)
It sounds like you had dynamic zoom enabled, if you were viewing a PDF document, either in Firefox, or with the adobe viewer.
To fix, go to the zoom tool and select any other zoom method besides dynamic.

Any chance the "Control" key was pressed?
Ctrl + scroll wheel = change font size.
Try it.

I didn't adjust anything, before or after. And the Ctrl key trick isn't what it was doing. It wasn't going in steps, but in a smooth zoom.
Ah, the mysteries of the silicon mind. smile.gif

John,
That's a neat trick!
Thanks

Here's another - "Shift + scroll wheel = Fwd and back"
A real time saver if you share a computer is
"Windows key + L = switch users" with out all the intermediate screens of "Do you really, REALLY want to do this?"

If "wintel" only had 3% of the market like Crapple, there probably would be just as few problems. tongue.gif
I give Apple 3-4 more years in the computer market, at best. "Apptel" isn't going to be good for them.
