This is a old photo of a boat named Jasper that was used to give rides at a local amusement park a long time ago. http://www.gco.com/eldridge/dragon2.html
I always thought it would be interesting to build a replica of this boat. All I have are these old photos. No measurements or drawings exist that I am aware of. The boat would not have to be an exact replica. Low power very shallow draft lake is approx 1 1/2 arces. The park is being rebuilt and the carousel restored and being a boat nut I thought it would be fun to give the kids rides on weekends. Any ideas as to where I might get plans to build from or do you think I am crazy. Also what would be involved in building a boat for rides as far as rules and licenses. This may only be a dream right now but sometimes they can come true. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid195/p9116f0c3448b0709c5840c73137d773d/f13a49ba.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid195/p4b33393d2846ff99ab054407c6129bdb/f13a49c1.jpg

Of course you're crazy. After all you like wooden boats don't you? Q.E.D.

What a shame for it to die in a fire :(

I'd guess that your best bet would be to bring on board a naval architect/yacht designer to draw up plans that attempt to replicate the old boat using construction methods that make sense in modern times and a design and construction that will pass muster with the authorities.

On the recent thread about the tragic tour boat sinking at Lake George there was some discussion about who has regulatory authority over commercial passenger vessels operating on inland waters of the State of New York. Of course in the wake of that tragedy there may well be changes in those regulations.
