Temperatures are going to be in the low teens all of next week. Ground is already frozen solid and no snow. It's really hard on all the plants.

How is it in your neck of the woods?

Woke up yesterday morning to the first snow of the season - a dusting of very wet stuff covering the lawn and cars. The thing is that it was very localized. There wasn't any snow a hundred yards down the road. Lucky me. No snow in the forecast - just cold and rainy.

First frost on the cars day before yesterday. Yesterday saw the first skim ice forming on the other side of the beaver dam on the lake. Today it is 6 Deg. C. and warming...

No snow on the ground, but crunched the ice on the top of a couple of puddles walking to the office. It's coming.

No snow yet. This time last year we had two feet of it on the ground.

^ Steve - that is because last year you didn't have a snowmobile.

October was a month of record warmth in Maine.
November is coming in classic.
I'm tucking my head down through December then headed south of the border for a few months.

Actually, I gracefully backed out of the snowmobile deal. I was a bit spooked by a noise in the engine and we then decided that the boat wish list would take priority over getting one this year. That probably ensures we will have a long winter now.

That gives you a bit of time to consolidate finances so you can move up to a bit more well-heeled snowmobile:

The Northeast Weather Alert is hinting at snow for Thanksgiving... which isn't all that common, hereabouts.

Local ski resorts just opened last weekend, but with man made snow. Temps are low enough for that. No natural snow yet and I'm hoping it holds off for at least another month. Last week's hernia surgery renders me unable to shovel or use the snowblower until then. My dear wife is willing, but her petite size just wouldn't allow her to handle that big snowblower.

Some of our trees have lost their leaves, but others are looking pretty good. These were taken this afternoon while riding my bike.

I certainly do not. After I move in December, THEN it can do what it wants to do.
