RE the thread "Re: The Ugliest Landscape", I thought it would be more pleasant to see what you chaps come up with as "The Most Beautiful Landscape" instead.

I'll let you post first as mine are highly unlikely to outshine what is likely to be posted here.

Post away. Y>

Mosher's Island lighthouse, Lahave Islands, at the mouth of the Lahave River, is pretty much exemplary of the region I grew up in. I have traveled quite a lot, but this place still tugs at my heartstrings.

It's not much like Minnesota , but I very much like the Elqui Valley in northern Chile. Those odd-looking fence things are fabric barriers to protect the grapevines from the wind.

Wouldn't say it's the most beautiful... but since the northern NSW forumites are lazy bludgers and don't know how to click a shutter, about three or four of them live in this vista, or nearby

Here is Kotor Montenegro, a place we just returned from, a stunning sunken river landscape. It has been known to be occupied for at least 10000 years.

This may not be as stunning as some of the others, but it is what I like to call home. And besides there is a certain peace found in the midst of clear mountain stream.

My new home's vista, looking west over Admiralty Inlet ( Puget Sound ), past Marrowstone Island to the Olympic Mountains many, many miles away. Perhaps not "the most beautiful landscape ", but hey, it'll do. To use my father's old funny observation about HIS spectacular Vermont landscape, " too bad about that view ".

This is a crappy panorama of a lovely part of the world. It's Northern to northeastern Laos, above the Plain of Jars. Well off the highway, on a muddy back way through. I'm standing in a small agricultural plot, but the entire rest of the vista, all the way across multiple ridgelines, is without signs of human interference. It won't last. China is over that horizon.
