Walter Becker, co-founder and guitarist for the US band Steely Dan, has died aged 67, an announcement on his website said.

No cause of death or other details were given.

Becker missed the band's July concerts to recover from an unspecified condition, band mate Donald Fagen said at the time.


A great band. RIP Walter.

A great band and talented musician. Saw Steeply Dan (Becker and Fagan) in Dallas a couple years back. They were great.

I was at William and Mary at the time. It was hugely popular there until they admitted they just chose the name because it fit.

Warren Zevon's Excitable Boy was the other.
