Tom comes through! Nice photos!

Flikr won't let me sign in to my account. "Try again later." Bastids.
Uploading photos to Facebook is a pain from my phone. I think I'll sign up for Smugmug, too.

Here's a gallery of Draken Harald Harfagre I took yesterday.

You don't have to be a subscriber to Facebook to view it.

Lovely.

Thank you for posting these. I am envious of your photography skills, as well.

Peace,

Good old 'Nellie'. She will always be my favorite boat at the Seaport.

The giant in the back row is Garret.

The bearded guy is from the Atkins project, as is the other one with the red T shirt.

Thad was there too, but escaped the photo op as is his usual wont.

Imagine the little tiny wooden houses and shops of a place like Mystic, even New Bedford, with great monsters like the Morgan lurking against every pier or slip. Think about the spiritual life of a place like this - all those men going to sea with the likelhood of their return tenuous at best. All the costunes and historic reconstruction and scholarly expounding can't wipe away the basic harshness embedded in the assuptions of places like this.

Oh my gosh, SmugMug is 100x more pleasant and faster than photobucket.

Ahem... I do believe I've been tellin' you guys this for a year or more now. Run by the 3 sons of the guy who started ADVRider... and it grew out of ADV... ie, the need to host that site and it's (ahem, attached photos). Baldy handed it over to the sons in 2015.... Long may it continue.

Thanks for those pics, and the group shot I reckon I'll print and put on the shop wall. For when the curious ask, "Just who are these people you talk to?"

Is '"the rough end of the pineapple" a phrase once in use in the US or is the owner Australian?

Is '"the rough end of the pineapple" a phrase once in use in the US or is the owner Australian?

Pineapples were brought back from voyages and placed outside the house as a sign to say "the man of the house is home from the sea, you are welcome to visit".

So it means Welcome

Ned Ludd is Geoff Kerr's (2 Daughters Boatworks) boat. He's built a lot of Caledonia Yawls for people.

It's pretty easy to see why.

Yessir. He's also simply a nice guy. I believe he's teaching a course or 2 @ WB this summer.
