ATT Techno's and geeks - LOUD electric horns

How do you determine which horn is louder?

Some are stated as 106dB others 115dB and also as 350Hz and others 400Hz.

Appreciate higher dB is louder but what does the 350Hz or 400Hz indicate?

So which has the best 'parp' for the money?

More dB and more or less Hz?

OK, yes more Dbs = louder.

The frequency indicates the note (as in musical note) which sounds. If you are familiar with the piano keyboard..
      350 Hz = F above middle C
400 Hz = is G above middle C (near enough, G is actually 391.995 Hz) So it is one white note higher than the F

Hope this helps. Click on these links with headphones or speakers on. They are very soft so won't really sound like the horns, but the pitch is correct.

      This is F

      This is G

        Agreed on the dB bit.

Isla ( I am musically totally inept) so then the lower the Hz the more it will sound like a low pitched fog horn and the higher the HZ the higher the pitch (more piercing like a whistle?)

There is really not much between the two notes. If you can sing doh, ray, me, soh, fah, lah, te, doh in your head then the difference between the two notes is the difference between fah and lah.

I think the point of offering the two frequencies is because a lot of guys install one of each on their vehicle, then they can do that annoying dee -dah (or fa-la-fa-la) thing as they drive by. Like this..

Go for the 115 db horn. If the specs are correct it will blow the doors off of the other one. 3db is basically a doubling of loudness.
