Well... GQ's take on it, anyway. I have to say, they chose well for Oregon. Not the trendiest, or hoppiest, or the sexiest, or the biggest brewery. But an excellent beer. And one only a serious beer drinker is likely to consider. How'd they do for your state? --

Disagree on IL, ME & VT, good with MI & OH.

But then I'm not a quarter of a gentleman... ;)

Someone asked a real beer aficionado. His reply was "The next one".

Which is cute.

In New Hampshire, I vote for Smuttynose. I've not tried, or even heard of, what the article recommends.

Best beer in my state? Well, much depends on what state I'm in when I'm drinking it. If I'm just slightly tipsy then Hobgoblin or Abbot Ale is my preferred tipple. If I'm in a completely helpless state, then I don't even know what I'm drinking :p

Eating at a pizza joint yesterday and going through the list of local beers is getting to be mind boggeling though I'd have to say the best north east beer I've tasted in a while has to be peepers ale from the Maine Brewery in Freeport, it's getting out of hand.

Mackesons XXX stout. (No longer available in US)
Murphy's Stout.
(After two of the above, anything dark and Stout-y.)

But always, a good rye.

Thank you. I will remember that when I'm up there.

They make a # of really good beers. Peepers is definitely a good one.

Best beer in my state is made in my garage. I do carry a little bias, however... :p

Raspberry tart ale? GQ is full of something not pleasant. I can only roll my eyes. Spotted cow I might believe.
