Hello all,
I am developing a small database of wood suppliers from all over the US but particularly concentrating on locations in both Maine and Essex (Baltimore), MD.
I then, will be creating a program for determining who offers the better prices on various types of wood by Board Foot (BF).
Once finished, I would be happy to send anyone a copy of the program if s/he were interested.
I am planning on taking approx a month after classes here in Maine let out, and camp down at the marina in Essex, MD to attempt replacing the ribs in Audax, my 34', 50-year old sloop.
Although I am open to info on all wood used, I have been focusing on those listed below because these are the types found in mine, )I have to start somewhere).
Here is a list of wood I am interested in:
1) Honduras Mahogany: for house and coaming repair
2) White Oak: for ribs
3) White Cedar: some for replacing planking
4) Sitka Spruce: for replacing the of the flooring for house
If anyone has suggestions for alternatives to the species of wood list above, I am most certainly open to them.
Thanks again in advance, for taking the time in reading, replying, and helping in any way.
