A kid was arrested by police after she tried to pay for school lunch with a $2 bill and nobody in the school administration had ever heard of nor seen a $2 bill.

Of course some here want me to provide a link. Google it.

Monticello makes it a point to make change with $2 bills. I don't know that I've seen one since I was last there more than 15 years ago.

Not only did that school call the cops, but the cops called grandma and made her drive to the school, then drove the bill to the Qwik-E-Mart where she got it. At the Kwik-E-Mart, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon told them it was real, so they took it to a bank for confirmation.
It was a 1953 bill, and the lunch lady's detector pen didn't work on it.

Well, that's just Texas (http://www.npr.org/2015/10/21/450611765/why-norwegians-use-texas-as-slang-for-crazy)

Did anyone suggest the lunch lady should stick her pen someplace where the sun doesn't shine?

So Wife and I are talking about $2 bills, and she pulls one out of her purse! Says she's been carrying it around for years. She didn't know that racetracks were the places they were mainly used.

^ Fort Bend ISD, where the high school staff were going to send my teen-age daughter home to an empty house with a MALE
teacher so she could change her clothes - said she was 'inappropriately dressed' in a skirted-shorts (long ones). She Who Must Be
Obeyed really tore them a new one !!! Happened in the early 1990's - I do not hold some Texas school administrators in particular high

So was the bill refused because of its denomination, or because it did not react as expected when swiped by the counterfeit detection pen?
