Venezuelan government seizes General Motors factory intends to make it a state run factory.

WTF do they think they'll be able to produce there without GM's support. Dumbasses.

GM employs 6,600 Venezuelans and has been there for 35 years. . .

Good news for Donald, he'll be able to send in the marines just like the old days….
Now where is that carrier group again………….

But yes, stupid. Of course it may be a popular move in Venezuela

There will probably be some negotiations in secret, which permits GM to continue operations, under the false guise of a 'state owned institution'. This thing may be more for public consumption, than for any actual change.

We'll send them all we've got, John Wayne and Randolph Scott, as Tom Lehrer said.

I can't help but think, this is where Venezuela is now because of Chavez. And that Chavez had a far better first 100 days in office.

Authoritarians never end well.

Ford wrote off Venezuela two years ago, then shut down production. Venezuela is saving GM the trouble. If they bailed on Australia and Europe, what's the point of Venezuela?

It had been assembling some 20 models for the South American market, but production has been shut down since late last year.

There's no direct connection, but it's worth remembering that Venezuela has the largest crude oil reserves on the planet.

Invading Canada didn't go so well last time we tried it.

So, the Venezuelans had seized a more or less intact but unused car plant? My guess is they'll find something useful to do with it.

Re bobbys, calling me a 'liberal' in Aus might be considered an insult.:ycool:
