Cute. The first time I ever saw someone paddling standing up was on Lake Atitlán in Guatemala about 40 years ago. The folks there fish (well, maybe used to fish, I don't know if they still do) in pretty basic boats called cayucos, and stand up to paddle. Thay also had things they called tablas (literally 'boards') that looked for all the world like a paddleboard made at home with a blunt hatchet. Single-blade paddles, though, always.

Remember Seedtick and the stand-up rowboat that he and his friend Keith built?
