Can anyone provide the name of a reasonable supplier or half-round brass rod for a keel rub rail?

You probably want half-oval, not half-round.

Half round is difficult to source. It used to be more common for stem bands and heavy chafing gear.
Faced with sourcing it for a museum job, which was impossible. I just made it using the band saw by making a fixture and splitting round bar.

Check out boatyards if you can. I have a slew of lengths and sizes of bronze rub rail that I got for free from various boat yards. I find it in the woods, under and on abandoned boats, etc. When I see something I like on an abandoned boat, I ask the yard about it, and 7 out of 10 times maybe, they say "Take it. It's less for use to deal with."

You might want to consider using a strip of UHMW instead. Much more slippery.

Got mine from Online Metals. 5/8 inch wide for $6/foot in short lengths. Assume cheaper for longer pieces.

Careful when handling after drilling. It tends to break at the holes. I'm installing two pieces now instead of one. :)

UHMW or VHMW is a solid choice for this application. If half oval is also a bit expensive, consider getting a partial sheet of .0125 thickness naval bronze and ripping it on your table saw into pieces of flat bar. I actually think you get better protection that way as the edges aren't relieved like the half oval.

Be honest now... Pat fed you that 'bar stock' suggestion, dinnee? Well, no matter. It's a good one, but I'd still break the sharp corner with a file, sanding black, or even a very small roundover bit in the router table.
