Like I need another one. This one is intriguing though.

78 GL 500 Interstate by Honda.

Any body here have any experience with them?

He's claiming 50 + mpg too. A gorgeous bike too, garage kept impeccably
maintained, and only 1k $........ How do I break this to SWMBO?

OH, and he is coming down during bike week so he can deliver also!

It is easier to seek forgiveness than permission - just do it :d.

You could use it to build one of these:

a nice '72 Honda CB450 First bike I ever had, shakes badly but bulletproof - not as bulletproof as a GL500, though; those are nearly eternal.

Funny thing Jack, my BIL moved to London a while ago and has sold me his CX500 (same bike minus the fairing)! I'll get it in April. I hear they're awesome bikes - can't wait for summer!

I had a CX 500 years and years ago. No rocket but a lovely cruiser. I really liked it. Tell the wife it's all for the best, kids and motorbikes are a bad mix. Taking one for the team you are really.

Most likely not....... Did I mention it only has 26k on the clock?

I may have to give up the 1979 400XS for this one.

My brother owned one in the mid eighties, and I got to "use it on a longer term basis" :d for about 8 months, and I really liked it. In South Africa it was called the CX 500, and it was naked, not set up for cruising. There was a turbo-charged model too.

Claim you're buying it for her and need to test-ride it in order to fine-tune it for her? ;)

When I returned to motorcycling in 2000, after a 27 year absence, I bought a used CX500... interesting bike. Mine was fully dressed out with a fairing and stern luggage container. I liked it, but after deciding that I really liked getting back to biking, I wanted a new one, so I sold it... interestingly, to an older guy from New Hampshire who brought along 'handicapped' motorcycle plates... I never knew such a thing existed. I bought a 2001 Honda Magna, which I still own and ride.

The CX500 ran well, but did have some marginal cooling problems on extremely hot days. I liked the shaft drive, though.

Thanks, If it was part of the recall, it was most likely done. I'll ask him if he has the maintenance records.

If it's been fixed the shop was supposed to punch three dots in a triangle on the engine block at the end of the serial number.
