Rosemary and I finally made a trip to Bryce Canyon in winter

Thank you for that. The Earth is an amazing place and its variety seems infinite.

Reminds me of being just amazed the first time I experienced the Grand Canyon. Afterward if I heard somebody refer to something trvial as awesome my response was that word is reserved for the Grand Canyon. A half price sale on something is not ' awesome '. Puh-lease.

When I was a little boy
And the Devil would call my name
            I’d say, “Now who do . . . [hoodoo]
Who do you think you’re fooling?”
If I use the word "God," I sure don't mean an old man in the sky who just loves the occasional goat sacrifice. - Anne Lamott

It is a nice place to visit. Our next trip there is in April.

Hope to see half a dozen of the parks out that way.
                Life is complex.

Had a crazy girlfriend who worked for the Park Service at Bryce.

Great place. Seems like you're on drugs even when you're not.

And I can remember the fourth of July
                    Runnin' through the backwood bare
And I can still hear my old hound dog barkin'
                    Chasin' down a hoodoo there

Day 2 - Hike to the canyon floor

                      Started just after sunrise

                      Hodoos up close and personal

View from below - Ponderosa pine and juniper forest

                      Narrow passages

Fresh showers of pebbles at the base of the hoodoos each morning

A tough slog back to the canyon rim
