A passing mention of The Walking Dead on the prepper thread brings this question up. Has this series ruined Zombie Movies and TV shows as a genre?

Look, I love zombie ****, I love zombie movies, tv, comics, books, and the inevitable cultural reference. It used to be we could count on one 'good' zombie flick per year. 'Good' of course when it comes to zombie might mean really laughably bad of course. But still. . .

Anyways, The Walking Dead story is very good, the characters are well developed, the acting mostly excellent, its fast, and the Zombies are badasses. Is The Walking Dead so good its sucked the life out of every other potential zombie story?

I have no desire to watch zombie or other horror movies.

Like John of P. points out, real life scares me enough and I prefer to be entertained.

BTW In my younger days I did watch the 'Hammer' horror films.

Never watched The Exorcist or ant other religious horror movie.

I did watch 'Night of the living dead' when I was a teenager, had a nightmare after it.

I always thought Night of the LD was comedy.

I like my zombies the old fashioned way.... raised from the dead by a Voodoo Priest or Priestess.

I really dislike zombie flicks (almost said that they stink). The only one I enjoyed was Shaun of the Dead, a spoof.

They seem to be peddling horrendous violence as A-okay, since the targets are already dead. Very much suburban fantasy/aggression displacement fodder.

I like last man on earth movies but there's always a woman that comes along to ruin paradise.

By definition a zombie is a "badass." Or at least an ass that's gone kinda gamey.

I have no interest in zombie TV shows OR zombie movies, myself... so whether the genre is ruined or not isn't something resulting in sleepless nights, for me.

The only zombie movie I enjoyed was 'night of the living dead'... strictly for the campiness factor. I remember one quote from the movie:

"Yeah, they're all messed up" :):):)

The only zombie thing I can abide is Ash vs. The Living Dead.

Oldest Son we call Quadzilla, because he is as large as four gojira combined, and because he loves monster and horror films.
I mean, he can tell you who directed which Godzilla film. He isn't so big on gore, but scary monsters and suspense and goofy slasher flics.

He likes TWD (hey, I'm cool...), but it isn't the end all be all to him. He really enjoyed World War Z.
And, I think everyone enjoyed Shaun... didn't they? That is a funny film.

Brains...braaiiins...braaaiiinnnsss...

When the time comes when I can't die from a broken heart...I'd let her take me out.

I don't need movies to see zombies. All I need to do is go up to the crossroads up the road from me and sit and watch. :)

They do nothing for me but then horror movies in general do not. I do really like the original Godzilla and King Kong, though. And The Shining was truly disturbing.

I don't understand the appeal of the whole zombie thing. Why are they such a massive phenomenon?

Do you mean to say that my endorsement acts as verification of contested content on this forum?:D (Cause there are plenty of people who would take issue with that!)
