I took all the fittings off the deck of my boat to do some painting and clean up work. When it comes time to reinstall, what kind of hardware should I use? I can get stainless steel at the local hardware store but not silicon bronze. Also, what should I use to provide a watertight seal?

Thanks

What are you replacing instead of reinstalling your original hardware?

White lead paste - available from Kirby Paint (website under construction # 508-997-9008) is the generally accepted bedding compound.

P.S. I'll be in Athens soon. Want me to bring you some?????

Thanks for the answer and sorry about my late reply. I would like for you to bring me some white lead paste if you don’t mind. Just let me know how much. The reason I have to replace all the hardware that holds down the deck fittings is because the person that put them in stripped out the heads. I had to drill and chisel to get half of them out. The time it took killed most of the one sunny warm day I have had to work on the boat for a month.
