The venerable Mars Odyssey probe, orbiting the Red Planet since 2002 has undergone a few days of safe mode reboot, and is now fully operational again.

:) Everyone needs a hobby, so long as Donn isn't killing them himself just to have something to talk about.

Actually, this is good news! Thanks, Donn.

I get emotional about these vehicles so far from Earth.

I get emotional about these vehicles so far from Earth.I doubt it's mutual. Yet.

Certainly not, all projection on my part. The Webb Telescope is going to be a tortuous experience.

Apropos of that, I teared up at the conclusion scenes from Silent Running.

Peace,

"Yes, of course duct tape works in a near-vacuum. Duct tape works anywhere. Duct tape is magic and should be worshipped. "

I finally got to watch the first two episodes of National Geographic's "Mars" last night. Pretty well done I think. Regardless of what one might think of the presentation, it is a pretty good insight into what our current thinking is regarding getting off this planet thanks largely to Elon Musk (and of course many others).
