Was watching a DVD at a friend's house that Lin & Larry Pardey made. Lin was describing their manual windlass. I caught that it was a two speed.....but she never stated a manufacture. Does anyone have a clue as to who manufactured it?

it may have been a "tiger"...had one on my boat...Simpson Lawrence perhaps...
The SL/Lewmar is "Seatiger." Other makers include Muir, Goiot, and Barlow.

I've used a SL 555 for 24 years on my cutter and have never had a problem. My installation makes it hellish to maintain, so there she sits, so far so good.

Along these lines, anyone know what happened to the Moritz foundry, who advertised years ago in WB and made a dandy little SS and bronze manual windlass?
Frank
P.S. They were located in So. Cal. I believe.

Lunenberg Foundry in Nova Scotia is still in business and making manual windlass's.
I have one on a 12 Ton pinky schooner and it is great! They redid the web page and no longer have pictures of the windlass. Send an email or give them a call.

Email this bloke he's developed a double action manual bronze windlass and is about to start selling.it's powerful bit of gear and very well made.

Be patient though, you may not get a reply for a couple of days.

Well ...its not quite up to production, final bits and piece of machining setup etc.Sooon!
I think the Pardeys might have an old 2 speed ABI,proably in immaculate condition smile.gif .They aren't made anymore ,just the single speed model.Iwas bronze too( as is mine )

On Truth, the halyards come down to turning blocks and winches at the bottom of the mast. If ai were doing it over, I might make one of the self tailing winches oversize to take the anchor line (5/8") the winch will do it but not the self tailer.
Would not work with chain, but so far, that would only be last 30'.
Good luck.

George-
I'm thinking of a Lunenburg windlass for my boat. Are they double action (pump two levers at once)? Do the post mounted ones have some type of brake?
