Trapped in the house by an ice storm. Star Trek: The Motion Picture came on the tube. I can't believe I was so big a Trekkie that I liked it back in the 70's. Lame. The definition of lame. Do you have a favorite bad sci fi film?

IMO, "The Wrath of Khan" was the best ST film with the "Search for Spock" a distant second, the rest have sucked. Most Sci-fi movies are lame. Some exceptions, Alien, and Aliens. Outside of the acting, they stand the test of time.

Bad sci-fi? Oh, my father in law and oldest son are monster movie mavens.

I would have to pick a Mothra flick.

My favorite legit sci-fi movie is The Fifth Element. Neat flick.

Peace,
Robert

The Battlestar Galactica shows (both) acted like space had viscosity. They only moved forward so long as the engines were burning fuel. Cheasy.

I would put all of the Star Wars films squarely in the "lame sci fi" category. The first two (in order of release) were ok, but the rest sucked pretty bad as sci fi and as adventure/action films.

At least the Star Trek universe made some attempt to get the science right. But yeah, that first Star Trek movie was a real dog.

I do like the Star Trek reboot films, especially the first one. I also like the Fifth Element. That's very cheesy but a lot of fun. Loved the BSG reboot series even with the flawed science.

The BSG reboot was some of the best writing and character development we've seen in TV Sci-Fi.
They also made a conscious choice to avoid all of the Trek like techno babble, you know, that crap that made up 80% of the dialogue in a typical ST episode.
