It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

We catch them with dip or seine nets when it is much warmer outside.

I like anchovies as accent in certain Italian dishes and Caesar salads.

Re: little fishies we love to eat

I'm an anchovy fan, myself. Aside from Caesar salads, we have Italian friends who make a (presumably traditional) pasta dish, at Christmas time: it's angel hair pasta, with grounds nuts, anchovies, and olive oil, as the dressing... it works remarkably well, I think.

I've always wondered what sort of automation is able to fillet an anchovy
"Reason and facts are sacrificed to opinion and myth. Demonstrable falsehoods are circulated and recycled as fact. Narrow minded opinion refuses to be subjected to thought and analysis. Too many now subject events to a prefabricated set of interpretations, usually provided by a biased media source. The myth is more comfortable than the often difficult search for truth."

Spaghetti alla puttanesca, literally pasta in the style of a prostitute!

actually better with anchovy paste than with whole anchovies. . .

Just as an aside,is anybody else aware that Worcester sauce is made from fermented anchovies?

With, not from, there are spices and so on as well. The story goes that a gent returning from India gave the recipe to his local chemist to make up. They made a batch for them selves, but found it horrible and put it at the back of the store room. Months later they unearthed it, it had fermented and matured into what we know and love.

                        Hmm, crunchy.

I prefer to take the bones out myself, filleted kippers usually have lots of pin bones left in.
