Okay, I know this is not boat related but I thought you all would like it.
This is my new storm door I built. It is mahogany with 6 coats Epiphanes varnish. It is 2" thick and rabbeted on the inside and out to fit a standard 1" thickness between jamb and outside of casing. I did that for looks but the inside rabbet gave it the added bonus of a good weather seal.hinges are Baldwin solid brass and the lock and closer are Deltana. The exterior door is also Mahogany. It needed protection from the elements and is due to be refinished after 12 years.

Thanks. I don't post on any other sites so I had to show it to you all.

Beautiful. What kind of closer did you use?

Nicely done. Being as sheltered as it appears to be... 6 coats should be sufficient. I prefer 8, but it definitely takes time (that clients don't always want to pay for, or wives wait for).

It is a Deltana with an arm like a commercial one but it is residential. Door weighs about 70 pounds.

It gets the morning sun but otherwise it is protected.
We set out to do 8 coats but did not make it.

Well... it's gorgeous, and won't be much trouble to recoat when necessary. Really lovely work.

That's a beauty Walt. What sort of joinery did you use?

Loose tenons. The panels are set in dadoes.

2" thick storm door? Wow. I bet the interior door is only 1 3/4.

Nice work.
