Frankly, this is an example of Twitter doing risk management. And an illustration of the unmanaged risk that Zuckerberg is courting. The media companies are not so large yet that they can't be taken to court for negligence, and suffer enormous financial penalties.

Spencer [who was just banned from Twitter] compared the account suspensions to the Night of Long Knives, also known as Operation Hummingbird, in which Hitler ordered “a bloody purge of his own political party, assassinating hundreds of Nazis whom he believed had the potential to become political enemies in the future,” according to History.com (http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/night-of-the-long-knives).

OMG, that's hilarious! It makes our red whiners here look absolutely bush league.

SPLC must have sent them one of their famous Black Lists! SPLC loves their lists, always busy keeping tabs on what other people say, listening carefully for Thought Crime and making their all important lists, then sending their lists off to the Federal Goverment and the FBI... remind you of anyone?

Hilariously, I have just been banned from Facebook!

My crime was to post the well known picture of Mrs Trump on a fur rug handcuffed to a briefcase, in response to the suggestion that she is "classy"..

Facebook deleted it, I complained that it did not violate their "community guidelines", they agreed, and reinstated it, but left me banned anyway...

There is no sign of them having a purge on fake news sites, though.
