I learned to sail on a 420. It's a fabulous boat, especially for kids. It's unsinkable, responsive, not over-driven, and includes a spinnaker for those who want to learn.

Then I eventually got a 505 - a 420 on steroids!

Nice, I plan to use spinnaker pole set up on my fireball, with bungeed back to the boom. . . Did you see that 505 jibing video on SA? Fast?

That is a fast rig. Some put the pole with a light block on a wire, but the bungee is very fast and easy until it clobbers the driver in the noggin. :)

By the way, wooden 505s were all the rage for several decades. They were cold molded, then vacuum bagged with cores of honeycomb and other materials. That gave way to baking pre-preg and now carbon fiber.
