On this day in 1882 CONGRESS passed a bill to ban CHINESE immigration for a period of 10 years.

The 10-year Chinese Exclusion Act was renewed in 1892, and ten years later made permanent . Anti-immigrant sentiment in the US has always been there; it comes in waves.

FWIW, the immigration act of 1924 established national quotas based on the census of 1890 before the early 20th-century wave of immigration, and basically stopped immigration from most of the world. It was the first priority of the second incarnation of the Ku Klux Klan in the '20s, when they had four million members and marched down Pennsylvania Avenue.

It worked, until the law was changed in the 1960s. Those demographic changes are one cause of recent events.

With your lack of concern for borders and consistent concern for illegal immigrants/immigration, how about a few hundred thousand coming to your town, perhaps you might let a few live in your back yard. No borders, no country.

Wrong again Keith, I would love to see an open Mexican border with tax rates
doubled for ALL foreign workers and NO.....Zero......government assistance.
