Maybe that's bacon jerky powder in the little dish...

When I worked behind the stick at a high end steak joint I used to make my famous Joe's Bloody Mary's - I can't give it all away but I did substitute wasabi for horseradish and I used a U-8 shrimp cocktail as a garnish ;) They were $16 a pop and on Sundays I had to make 4 containers to keep up with the demand.

Years ago I created a cocktail called the Canadian Bacon. Basically a CC ( Canadian Club ) Manhattan with the martini glass edge spun in some maple syrup and crushed bacon powder

Airlie, I believe it was Alan Watts who said he was a vegetarian because cows scream louder than carrots.

I have some spicy V8 in the fridge, a jar of horseradish, and some hot sauce, so a virgin Mary is in my future today.

I sauteed some pancetta this AM followed by some hot Italian sausage. When the Mrs. gets up I'll make some home fried potatoes and add one or the other meat, fix some eggs, and probably have lunch. She's a late sleeper. :)

Not for nothing did she strong-arm her lad at Cana. ;)

:) It's a personal choice, not a theological dictate.

Do you ever wonder what her sense of humor must have been? As an anthropological exercise, she lived at a major cultural cross road. Education and cultural cross-fertilization was huge. I bet she was one sharp cookie! I bet He had a good laugh, too.

Speaking of which, I trimmed the slab of bacon I smoked yesterday and cooked some short pieces.

The cure was dark brown sugar and maple syrup. I think I'll cut the sugar in half next time and maybe add some black pepper. The outside cuts were pungent and sweet: pork candy. We ate it with a perfectly ripe honeydew melon.
