The big blue bar is Medicare/Medicaid, and it's so large not because the US is particularly generous, but because our health care costs are twice the OECD average.

Maybe so, but this graph does show who pays and how much. Looks like we're pretty generous on the whole. More so than some others who criticize the US system.

I've been paying for social security all my life. If it had been properly run and not taped into it would be making a profit now.

2 unfunded wars lasting more than 10 years and Tax breaks for some also takes a toll.
