It wasn't asked during the debate, but Hillary brought it up in her opportunity to talk about whatever she wished.

She talked about Flint Michigan's lead tainted water.

Sanders also commented on this; he's asked the governor to resign. Snyder should resign. He should go to jail, as should some of the others complicit in this. They should be sued, too, for the damage they've done.

Meanwhile, none of that actually helps the people of Flint get clean water, which ought to be a priority.

I haven't heard much about an 'uprising' by the citizens of Michigan, over this debacle. Anyone?

It IS a debacle, and another indicator of the issues behind Black Lives Matter. If Flint was predominately white, this would not be in the stage it is in now.

Is Pless banned - again? I'm curious - is this even a news item in Michigan?

Go to jail? Are you serious? The guy that invaded the wrong country and started a chain of events that killed hundreds of thousands isn't in jail. No one from Wall Street is in jail. the mayor of Chicago won't go to jail for covering up for that cop.

At a certain point your above the law in this country. It's been well covered on the news stations I watch. I think a public shaming is the best we can hope for. He could probably get reelected in his state, even after this.

I thought I heard the person in charge of emergency management in Flint now has a job as the head of emergency management for the Detroit school system...

Okay, #1 answered - you're not banned. How about 'now' in Michigan? That thread is old news. Are the citizens doing anything about governance?

those that give a damn are busy gathering fresh water for cooking and bathing. Trying to make it day to day, I'd guess.

I can't figure out how in the hell the quality or lack of quality water in a city is the big topic of a presidential campaign, and hillary finished her speech all about this subject.....

How fricking shallow is she ? Maybe she would do better running for governor of michigan ..

If all those black voters in Flint would just die from poisoned water like God's clearly intended, then Michigan's Electoral College votes would go where they ought to.

Instead, Hill and Bern each want them to live at least 'till mid-November. It's a scandal.

No, it's more like the stupidity of hillary and bernie to not understand the big picture............

It is also a shame that the DNC ran jim webb off by not letting him speak, he saw thru the game. Remember he was secretary of the navy in earlier years.

Now if webb would be the dem nominee and the dreaded R's would have bush, kasich, christie, or rubio I would have voted for webb, but no the left lost my vote....

Flint is just another canary in the mine. The infrastructure in this exceptional-greatest-most-powerful nation on earth is falling apart and is killing us. Lead pipes!!! Which of those pussy industrialized socialist European countries still has lead water delivery pipes??
Our streets are falling apart, our bridges are falling down, schools with leaking roofs, dams and levees are cracking, and nothing is being done.
Yet we go to war without raising taxes, we build the worlds largest and most expensive embassy in freakin Iraq!!!

Calming down, calming down, going to my happy place . . .

Well that's a nice rant, but unfortunately wrong. It seems as though the left doesn't understand the difference between, local, state, and federal government.

The water supply in the city of flint michigan is a local problem of the residents of that city, it can be pushed into a state problem, but it has nothing to do with the federal government or the taxes of the people of the United States. And neither does a leaking roof at a school, which is whole and solely the problem of the people of that school district. The same on sewage systems, electric grid, phone systems, schools, state and city buildings.

The infrastructure of the U.S. is the highways and bridges, damms and locks not local services to local residents, or state buildings and property.

In America, do your different levels of government sometimes act as funding partners in areas of one or another's primary responsibility?

For instance, if a new sports arena was going up somewhere, would you expect to see that Federal and State matching dollars made up part of the overall budget, along with municipal dollars?

Does that ever happen with infrastructure projects, or school facilities, or etc.?

It ain't suppose to.. the sports arena is up to that community not the federal government...Why should the people of kansas pitch in on a sports arena in Ohio ?

As a update, Obama declared a national emergency on flint water, which I have no problem with and the feds are sending down $5 million over the next 3 months for bottle water, filters and so forth..........But the big story is the city of flint changed from detroit water and started pumping water out of the local river that obviously wasn't properly processed for the purpose of saving money......So yes we do have a crime....

Well the big story is the city of Flint's locally elected mayor and city council were circumvented by a state appointed emergency manager who made the decision to switch water sources.

O.K. so why did the state appoint a emergency manager..And why wasn't this switched back at the first sign of problems ?

Well the emergency managers are appointed by the governor which is a rich white republican and they've invariably been assigned to take over poor black Democratic controlled communities - these communities then have their one or two prized and cherished holdings ripped from them and sold to rich white people at fire sale prices.

Well then that is a situation to be prosecuted by the U.S. attorney general.......So where is Obama when you need him ? On the golf course..

You made it all out to be a racist problem designed around greed. I doubt it..

Benton harbor was notable for having a century old public golf course and a waterfront camp ground for city residents which are 90% black. Both the golf course and the camp ground facilities were sold to out of town developers.who made them private.

Is Benton Harbor in city limits or in the county, no matter either the city councilmen voted to do this or the county commissioners voted to sell out.
Did the vote come about because the locals couldn't pay the taxes to maintain it ?
And if they sold it too cheap to their buddies or for a kickback as you suggest, then it could have been stopped and there is a crime, where is the state attorney general ?

The sales of these properties were authorized by and conducted the governor appointed emergency manager who disbanded the city council during his appointment.

Paul, my Googling seems to suggest that (Republican) Attorney General Schuette has acted to restrict scrutiny of the law (PA 436)which enabled that to occur. Might that be a fair characterization?

If so, which Attorney General would you like to undertake prosecutions, Ron?

If, if, and if again there was corruption, and the state attorney general was in on it, if, if, then it would go to federal prosecutors .

This would be corruption in office .. but that is a lot of if's....sounds like the communities were bankrupt and mismanaged, maybe the community should have filed for bankruptcy to put it in the court system.

So if, if, if it goes to federal prosecutors someday, will it be evidence of Obama's over-reach and disregard of states' rights? Or of corruption deserving investigation?

It has nothing to do with obama, it has to do with the law and corruption in office..
