We had to send our beloved Corgi over the bridge yesterday. I thought it would be harder on my wife and daughter but it was just as tough for me.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

He is buried in front of this bush, His favorite spot in the yard.

Gonna miss him out rowing together

By sending him to the Bridge, you gave him the ultimate gift of unselfish love. Too often we keep our animal companions around to suffer too long because WE are afraid to let them go. He thanks you and you will meet again. If we didn't love them it wouldn't hurt so much. May your heart heal quickly.

What has kept him mobile for the last year. But lately he just didn't want to go on. Click on the pic

Sorry for your loss, they only own us for a short while. Cute pooch! Not sure we'll get owned by another when Abby crosses the bar?? It's a hard time. Best to you and your Hunky!

My condolences for your loss. We learned just before Christmas, that our beloved rotwheiler, Nico, will not be with us for much longer. Cancer. We keep him comfortable and do our best to make each day count.

I hate it when this happens, Dogs are more than pets, in fact, they are really members of the family. Sorry it's come to having to be your turn.

I laughed at least 10 times today because of my dogs and their antics. They help make my life so much more joyful. They are my family, I love them as much as I love any person and that's a lot.

That was a great rear-end cart you made for him, you can tell a lot about a person in how they treat their pets. By that score, you're a good person, it seems you were both lucky to have found each other.

Mines an old guy, rescued at 11 years old when no one wanted him. In the two years he's been my friend he's so wriggled his way into my life that I cant imagine being without him.
I can feel your loss, my condolences.

Isnt that statue under the exit ramp off of the Rainbow Bridge a memorial to Mac Donald as in MacDonald of the Heights fame?

Always sorry to hear this kind of thing. I needed to bury one of my mom's dogs a couple of weeks ago, and when I visited her yesterday she was tearing up still at the memory of him having passed. It's a difficult thing to have members of your family pass, ever. And when they live to old, old age at 15 years that means you will go through this several times in your own lifetime, and that's tough.

Between my wife, myself and my three kids we have 10 dogs. Every one of them is a rescue dog but one, and they are all needy little buggers who look at you every single day of their lives like 'please don't leave me', and when you have that kind of relationship for so long when you lose one of them it's just heart-breaking.

The older I get the more I seem to like animals and the less I seem to like people. I admit that's probably not a healthy outlook, but it is what it is.
