Everything looks great except that plastic tiller extension. Too much trouble to make one out of wood?

A nice boat, the sight of a bunch of clean shaven preppies in whites with scarves kind of spoils it for me. I prefer a rougher version of boating.

No guard rails, no lifejackets... wouldn't go down well over here.
However, the boat seems to be displaying 'L' plates.

However, the boat seems to be displaying 'L' plates. Twenty years of racing on Long Island Sound in big boats and I never, nor anyone else I ever saw, wore a PFD. Too bulky and we couldn't afford the fancy inflatable ones. Somehow, we all survived. Man overboard drills and chase boats are a must, however.

I hate the idea of being on a boat and doing nothing. Always have.

I'm an old engineer, and I will not go aboard without my Leatherman and Minimag in their own "holster" and my floater jacket. Don't know if it will save me, but it will make the body easier to find.

Nice yacht, but I am not keen on the fore to aft straight deck planking.

Oh, I like that deck very much. To each his own.

This constant harping on wearing PFD's just gets to me sometimes. The only time I have ever worn a life jacket in my life has been when single-handing small boats like Finns or Lasers. You are not going straight to hell for not wearing a PFD on a boat. And lifelines are a damn good thing to trip on and break your neck. I hate the bloody things.

Now not wearing shoes on a boat? That's just plain crazy. :)
