Hi guys I still don't have a good grasp on this picture thing,so bear with me if the order and placements aren't correct . I just lost 20 minutes of work in one click and don't want to do it again.Well here she is .The name plate says Reisinger Yachts Va. Hull#5 or #52? Built In the 50's . I got her for the price of moving her along with her store including a 10' inflatable and a British seagull and more C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\11111000100010003.jpg Here is apic of her transom . the center beam has rot so it seems I will be learning to do a futtock( I think I got my mouth washed out with soap in boy scout for saying that)
C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\11111000100010002.jpg And here she is in better days
C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\11111000100010001.jpg Well let me know what you think I'll be here or in the wood shed .Thanks ,all comments appreciated Dan L.

I'm afraid you'll need to place your pics atan online location such as Imagestation so the Forum can go out and get them when somebody calls up the thread. There is no picture storage capacity to the Forum so you can't just upload them from you computer. Try setting up an album (free) at www.imagestation.com (http://www.imagestation.com) and then posting those locations to your message. It's a bit of a chore but eventually it should work. ;)
Good luck,
Jamie

Ummm, I hate to say it but you've somehow put a password protection on your album so we still can't get a peek. :( Either take the password off or just print it here. You've got my curiosity up.

Here's the pic. You're halfway there. You need to put the pic's URL within the IMG/IMG brackets.
It will look something like this (with http instead of "ttp")

Not being an expert on restoring boats but this one doesn't look too bad. I have seen worse boats on this forum that were restored and turned out great. I would say go for it! :D

Paul thanks ,I could sure use a secretary .I just modified the web info because I realized something wasn't quite right.when I came back I saw the boat you brought out for me. I hope my ignorance isn't to annoying .Aaaa the learning curve. Thanks again ,now that I'm getting closer to understanding this I'll have more questions on specifics .Keep the comments/inspirations coming. Now back to my babysitting duties before the 2 1/2 y.o. kills the 1 1/2 y.o. I'd say you've got maybe a weeks work to answer your question about whether to saw her up or fix her. I'd start by checking the fairness of the hull and doing a full inventory and condition assessment of all the rigging. Then I'd do a compression test on the auxillary and see if it will turn over. Next, I'd carefully survey all of the planking. followed by extracting a few fastenings near the waterline to see what kind of shape they are in.
If you are still not scared off, I'd check the ends of as many deck beams as you can get to without stripping out the interior. Same for the upper ends of frames. Finally, I'd pull up enough of the cabin sole to inspect the ends of the ribs the floors and the keel.
After all of this, I'd figure that you will find 50% more stuff to rework than what you have seen. This should give you some idea of what the boat needs.
Wooden boats are infinitely repairable and a joy to work on. To my mind, the only question is over the next few years, how much sailing and how much carpentry do you want to do...

Good work, welcome to the Forum. Tell us more about the boat as you get a good look at her.

Hi , back at it again . Thanks for the insight.I can tell you that that weeks worth of work to investigate pretty much had been done by the previous owner .The picture doesn't show it but the deck has been stripped completely. At my next chance I'll take my camera and get shot's of all my questionable areas .There is still alot of stuff inside that was thrown into the cabin during the move. When I finally got the nod that she was mine it was Thanksgiving and we already had snow on the ground . What a long winter. As far as the engine ,it,s an atomic four with another one thrown in .( My friend said it's an edimic four, are they that bad?)I was told the one in the boat is seized.I'm hoping it wasn't from a breakdown and some marvel mystery oil will free her up. On the other side I have a Merc 9.8 from my old Bristol '24 that I'll mount if nescesary. As far as weighing the difference between sailing and woodworking , last year I was lucky enough to help in the restoration of the 12 meter Courageous and got a fair amount of sailing on one of the best.I'm hoping this year I'm as fortunate.Well I hope I can get back in here soon .This forum is quite enjoyable , interesting and informative,so keep up with the input. Dan from the ocean state of mind.
