So the last two days taking the Ferry and bus into NYC I see all these people in costume and I'm thinking it must be some early Halloween party. No it's Comic Con. Ok so here the thing I don't mean to be cruel but WTH is with 350lb - 400lb women in pikachu / sailormoon or some furry animal stretching the absolute limits and tensile strength of spandex? Now I'm not talking about 1 or two I'm talking about 40 or 50 of them blue and pink hair, tattooed HUGE !!!!! women and men. Is this some kind of big girl fetish thing I don't know about?

I had to check the Max Capacity of of the ferry this morning. God forbid they all ran to one side to gawk as we approached the Javits center.

Somehow in my extremely limited understanding of the Comic culture I was expecting to see some super sexy super villains and superheros. These young women and men need to put down the super nachos and the playstations and get some sunlight and exercise.
These are YOUNG people and they literally were so clinically obese they were gasping and sweating just getting off the ferry and walk the 2 blocks to the convention center.

It's the mobile devices. The rise of mobile has meant the demise of the phone booth and, thus, no place in which to transform into muscular hero mode.

Fandom, starting with SF/F cons and branching out into comics and such, has a long history of accepting people of every distinction, which draws in some people who feel marginalized in the mundane world.

Neil DeGrasso Tyson says they are all democrats which Explains it.

However that being said, as a Republican I would like to recruit Catwoman and Morticia...

O heck even Herman Munsters wife, she has it going on.
