If you need a one off part machined check this out. www.eMachineShop.com (http://www.eMachineShop.com) I know nothing about it besides the web page but thought it might be of interest to somebody somewhere sometime. Maybe.

I have a problem with any company on the WEB that doesn't have an address and land-line number. You have no idea who you are dealing with or where.
All that aside be aware that they will only work on parts designed on their downloaded design system, the reason for this is that they use all CNC equipment and are automatically programming the machines based on your design. You will get and pay for exactly what you design, good or bad, and for most people who are not familiar with CAD and CAM programs and what's involved in the actual machineing you could be in for expensive problems.

Ken, good point/points and something to keep in mind for sure. Their phone number and address is on the site ..see contact us on the site map or on the company page. They are in Midland Park N.J.
Not sure if they would do it but here we sometimes run a test on a block of foam to see if the program runs as expected ,,easier on equipment and expensive metal if all does not go right.

I need four small bronze clamshell vents. I haven't been able to find anyone who makes them as a stock item.

If you can help please let me know. If you don't want to self-promote on the forum, please email me or send a private message.

Thanks.

I downloaded their software so I could get some prices.

Their video drivers would not install. This caused my video driver to no longer work. It took a lot of work before my computer was back in working order.

Scott, is that something that could be cast in bronze if you had a pattern? It doesn't look like a machineing job from what I'm pictureing. A local foundery cast some small parts for me for $25 each.

This one internet machine shop is not unique. Since the proliferation of CNC milling and turning equipment in the last 45 plus years, most machine shops have this ability. If you just look in your local phone book you will find small local shops that you can work with.

plus you would have somebody to talk to directly. Machine shops in this country could use the work as a lot of machining is moving to China.
