Has anybody seen one of these yet, or heard it running? It sure seems like a good deal, but since it's air cooled I wonder how noisey they are? One of the best parts of most 4 strokes is how quiet they can be. I'd buy one if it isn't too loud. Any real world experience yet?

Did you notice the fine print that says:
"FOR FRESHWATER ONLY"

That kinda limits its use.

I saw one last weekend at Cabela's outside Prarie du Chien. Looks rather like a lawnmower engine on top of an outboard lower unit - a little crude. I didn't hear it run. The muffler is quite a bit larger than the average lawnmower, FWIW. "Fresh Water Only!" is very prominent in all the literature - no problem around here. smile.gif

Doesn't the prop look rather puny for a 5HP engine?

I have a 1941 Lauson 2.5 Hp @ 3,000 RPM 4 stroke air cooled which my dad bought brand new in '41.
Weight 39 lbs
7-1/2 x 6 2 blade prop.
According to the owners manual it is built for either fresh or salt water This one always ran in salt water so the salt didn't affect too much.
Gee there has been a lot of improvement in 62 years

Lauson became or was part of Tecumshe, where someone had the brilliant idea to take the motor and put a blade and 4 wheels on it, LA LA a rotary lawn mower. Some where in my archives I have a brochure from Tecumshe with all the company history.
