View Full Version : Trump to G.O.P.: “You’re Fired”

The reds' "autopsy report of 2008" said that for the republican party to win the White House it would have to do much better winning the Latino vote, even going so far as to say that republicans need to formulate “comprehensive immigration reform”. Enter The Donald...

Trump, who has dominated Republican-primary coverage for more than a month, and who, in a new ABC poll (http://www.washingtonpost.com/page/2010-2019/WashingtonPost/2015/07/20/National-Politics/Polling/release_401.xml), has registered his largest lead since he entered the race, in June, has been like a Daisy Cutter to this strategy. He has made his rivals look weak and unwilling to speak up for the Latino community, and he has made it even more difficult than usual for them to embrace the one piece of legislation that the R.N.C. believes is essential for the Party’s future.

Some believe that trump is just a flash in the pan. Others that he only attracts the fringe of the party.

Not necessarily. As long as he continues his pompous bombast, as long he dominates the press, as long as he continues to lead in the polls, he represents the republican party... to the detriment of the party.

I'm gonna send him a few more bucks and another encouraging email. :D

I've read that Trump used to be a democrat and flipped, perhaps he's "flipped" again. It all seems a bit subtle and rather risky though, sort of like a comb-over out in the breeze.

Perhaps Trump will hold the key to a Bernie Sanders presidency?

Some believe that Trump is just a flash in the pan. Others that he only attracts the fringe of the party. He is, and he does - but in the process, he makes a lot of noise, gets a lot of news coverage. and influences a lot of people's opinions of the Republicans. The strategy detailed in the 'autopsy' has been pretty much dead for a good long while now. Individual politicians do what they think is in their own interests, not necessarily what's in the party's long-term interest. And the changes in campaign financing, the flood of money from wealthy individuals, means that the party has less control now that it has for a long time. Nativist bombast has been very good for Mr Trump, and quite a few other Republicans as well, whatever the effects long term.

They've lost control of the message and they've lost control of the party.

I'm starting to think Trump is a Democrat plot against the GOP. ;)

Anyone want to give Lindsey Graham a call?

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/donald-trump-reveals-gop-rivals-170712484.html

Trump makes Graham look like an elder statesman, and that's quite a challenge.

Jon Stewart is right, Trump would be the first full-on a$$hole as POTUS. That has to scare even the GOP.

Cheers,

Bobby

I've read that Trump used to be a democrat and flipped, perhaps he's "flipped" again. It all seems a bit subtle and rather risky though, sort of like a comb-over out in the breeze. He was an independent for a while, 2011-12. Then a member of a few other parties at various times. He has trouble deciding WHAT he is apparently.

Trump, for the most part, is saying exactly what GOP candidates have been saying for a couple of election cycles. The 'autopsy' suggested they not say it, but it didn't say not to think it.

This is the GOP primary. One has to appeal to the extremists on the right, and they hate immigrants.

Let's see what the coming week brings on McCain comments. for the moment they are used by all to attack Trump. Maybe by this time next week we'll get some less slanted coverage. McCain brought us Palin. There was considerable discussion and disagreement about McCain's record

Because our media refuses to do its job, we are left to wonder what the truth is.

Meanwhile, what is more insulting to our veterans, or more disrespectful to them than our failure to meet the needs of the wounded? Then, those who complain about Trump's comments were on board chastizing Kerry. No one has the high ground here.

While I don't doubt that Trump loves America and even figures he'd be a good President if things worked out that way ... I think he sees political parties as vehicles within which to express his larger "brand." Not as brands to which he can lend support.

The party he picks is determined by how much it helps him.

it's amazing what a person will say and do if they are not bought and paid for.

The democrats have no one like this..

This has to gall the liberals.

The Democrats have no one like this. This has to gall the liberals.Really? You actually imagine it bothers me that the Democratic party has no one like Donald Trump? Think again. If I did that kind of thing, I would get on my knees every day and thank a large assortment of deities that we don't!
