Shop Dust Filters

Anyone have any experience with the smallish, portable 110v dust filter that Lee Valley has in their latest catalogue? Or a similar one maybe that someone has had good experience with? I don't need a big system and it can apparently filter a 10x12 shop 10 times in an hour - for around $100 or so...

Someplace I heard that they aren't an ideal way to keep the dust out of your lungs.
You could always make one w/ a box fan and a furnace filter or two.
Ideally you'd collect all, or most, of the dust at the source.
If you're Carman Dragon, the band leader, you're already dead so it probably doesn't matter :D

Thanks Tom - nope, not a dead band leader...or a band leader, or dead for that matter...I know that unit is less than ideal, but in a basement shop w/o outdoor access I thought it might be a solution to help (with a sander with a bag, dust masks etc), I just don't want to buy a $100 piece of uselessness...

Try the box fan, duct tap, and a couple of furnace filters taped to the inlet side - cheap one outside, expensive allergy sort next to the fan's grate. Worst case, you've got a new fan for those hot summer days, and it might help some.
Good deal less than $100 too.
