Sheep that haven't had the brains bred out of them by Big Ag can climb and jump just fine. Even my 14 year old wether with no teeth can jump.

When I was herding sheep, I saw lambs leaping like that. Never full-size animals. But the photo looks like they're being unloaded from a truck, and jumping from the ramp, which I have seen.

What was cooler was when the sheep would bunch up and our herd dogs would jump onto their backs and run over the top to get in front of the herd.

There are probably videos of that, but I don't have time to find one.

Here's one I found. We had a couple thousand sheep in the band, so the dogs would go quite a long way on their backs. Never saw a dog fall into the mob.

Ok, I prolly shouldn't have laughed as hard as I did at this, but I did.

Get up in the high country with a flock of merino and you'll see sheep jump, attack dogs, and go up vertical rock faces if pushed too hard. They're strong and agile, and some only get mustered a couple of times a year so are pretty wild.

Never had experience with merino sheep, but I love the wool. It was many years back, but I think the band I herded was mostly Romney ewes, with some crossbred lambs as the bucks were different breeds. Pretty sketchy operation. But we were in the high country, above 2500 metres the whole season, with a wall tent and seven horses. I hated the sheep- the rest was an adventure.

That country is very special, those mountains and shingle fan rivers, great place. I've done a lot of camping up there.
Sheep, I kept a flock of coloured Perindales for a few years, but in the end figured that it was easier to just work a little overtime to pay the property taxes, 20 acres with 70 sheep took every spare minute that had.
