Cheap shot. Mr. Wizard was my hero when I was a kid. It was part of his schtick to set them up for a wrong answer. It's called a teaching moment. Now we are so afraid to hurt their widdo feelings that we are raising generations of wimps.

When his show was new, I thought it was national. Wasn't he on the East coast?

I don't recall seeing it as a kid, early 60's , I was born in 1955, maybe he was later, Paul P's "Nickelodeon" suggection would have been after my time of watching a show like that.

I'm younger than you guys. I watched on reruns. It never occurred to me that he was rude back then. That's the way all adults talked to me.

He wasn't rude. That's why I called the YouTube a cheap shot. Just editing out of context for someone's attempt at humor.

Watched him in NY when I was a kid. I don't remember which network he was on, but we picked him up on a Yagi, so it was NBC, CBS or ABC. I really liked the show and would have happily faced his "humiliation" for the chance to be on air with him. Verdict: not a dick.

I like Nye too ( a great deal) and I have always thought of him as the new Mr. Wizard, updated with social commentary as suits the times.

1951 to 1965. When you think of all the kids Mr. Wizard (Don Herbert) got interested in science or just to think and reason, that's a pretty noble life.
