Appears that neither Michigan nor Alabama have one.
Alabama's official play is The Miracle Worker. Kind of interesting.
I'd suggest that To Kill a Mockingbird would be an excellent choice of state book for Alabama though.
And Michigan might be well served by Big Two Hearted River.

I do not know about a book, but the state movie for Maryland should be June, Adrift.

HEY! I resemble that remark. I did take 2 years of Latin - so I guess I'm one of those evil people wanting Latins to take us over.

The state amphibian is the Northern Leopard Frog. So there!

WA State's would be a Microsoft user's manual for Windows.

That content is no longer available. How about a dead link to it? More modern, more chic, more now.

I don't think the current redneck legislature would be in favor but our statebook should be "Uncle Tom's Cabin".

And the state gun is a clam gun.

We do have a state tartan.

For the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, I submit: Walden, The Outermost House, or the Ashley Book of Knots.

In Mississippi, two bills were introduced to make the bible the state book.

Not everyone is happy with the idea. Lawrence Wells, publisher of Yoknapatawpha Press (http://www.yoknapatawphapress.com/) in Oxford, Miss., slammed the proposal to the Associated Press: "It's impossible to conceive of a state abandoning its literary heritage like that. What would [William] Faulkner and [Eudora] Welty and Shelby Foote and Richard Wright think? I think they would collectively link arms and say, 'Go back to kindergarten, Legislature.'"
