Hmm, I think you are right Donn. I read it and saw the film which was quite memorable, but I doubt I'd read it again now.
I can understand him not being popular reminding Germany of past complicity and recently given his attitude to Israel.

Having read The Tin Drum years ago, I finally saw the movie recently. I found both very interesting.

I read 'the Flounder' while in high school. I have no memory of it whatsoever, but I still have it so maybe I will give it a look?
