Huh, so, the plural of bandsaw is bandsaw. It's like "moose".

                I like those cast-base Walker-Turners -- is that a 16"?

Designed by one of the Deco brothers I believe, maybe Art?

Oh, woe is me, but I do not have the base.

According to the Vintage Machinery site, that saw weighs in at 920 pounds with the base and motor.

Yes it is a 16" of the infamous Serial Number 22-639 variety.

I will most likely receive the saw in late April.

I'm envious, I've only got five.

In my defence, I have two workshops, and two of the bandsaws are for cutting metals.
But I'd like one like that Walker Turner 16in, I've a 12 among my collection and now that its got new tyres and guide blocks its a little sweetie.
Just have to make a new guard for above the top guide set. That one needs the same, its very easy to brush the blade with your knuckles in that area.

It likely will be, when I get it set up. The pic Pless posted is not of my saw.

I think Paul has credited me with an extra, though I'd have to count, and one of them is not really a band saw, but a 1989 Grizzly which is un-tuneable and has guide holders made of such poor pot metal that they crumble instead of holding adjustment. It was a freebie, though.

The thing about the older US woodworking machines is that, aside from very robust designs, they had lots of very high quality iron (Meehanite), and they were not afraid to use it.

The result is, in this case, a band saw for the millennia. Literally.

If the replacement wear parts are available, that saw will cut wood continuously for thousands of years.

Big deal! I could do that too if you could find all the necessary Lew replacement parts and a sufficiently skilled surgeon to install them.
I'd need a saw too of course.......
