View Full Version : For Grand Wagoneer fans!

One of my daughters sent me an e-mail that Jeep is introducing a new model Grand Wagoneer in 2017, intended to compete with the Rover and Toyota 'big' SUV's! The photo looks pretty good to me.

I wonder what the sticker price would be on something like that? Since I am almost 57, I don't imagine I will be able to buy one, since I usually have to wait 20 years after a car is first sold before I can get one. :)

Fake wood paneling?

The article the photo came from calls it the 2019, and it'll be introduced in 2018. I hope they change the grill, otherwise, I like it.

I like it too, as long as it's the correct size and not something like the Grand Cherokee. I once drove a long way (pre-internet) to look at a 'Grand Wagoneer' that turned out to be a Grand Cherokee (not a happy camper).

Of course, for about $35K US the WagonMaster in Texas will get you one of the originals having had a complete makeover. Seems like a lot of their business these days is exporting to Europe. Of course, with the Euro sinking that may be changing now. I would love to have one, but not at that price. The two I have had were both headaches, but damn, I loved those things.

When I first went on the road, selling books, I started with a brand new one. In 4 years I put over 200K on it, and the only problem I had was rust inside the tailgate. I had to wedge the back window up with wood shims and epoxy. Other than that, it was one of the best cars I've ever had (the publisher paid the gasoline bill).

The linked website says it will have a twin turbo Maserati engine.

It is about time.

The Grand Wagoneer was introduced the same year as the Porsche 911. The Grand Wagoneer progressed through it's model years with woodgrain engineering and by the time it was discontinued it was horribly dated.

I owned several new Grand Wagoneers, there was lots that was good and lots that sucked.

When driven gently it was marvelous.

Butt ugly. And a twin turbo Maserati engine? Seriously? Google Maserati BiTurbo Review.

Mine had a 401 rebuilt by Jeg's Speed Shop. It was well over 500HP and ran like a scalded dog.
