There's a lot of wind shadow in that harbor and amidst that fleet. How are they going to get up boat speed to punch through to the open sea? Note the strong surf on the far shoreline.

I'm going there next week. I'll get you an updated picture. There are still a couple of schooners there working the tourist trade, but I don't expect they will be in the water right now.

St. John's can be 'interesting' to enter and exit. You go in, feeling the full effect of North Atlantic weather one minute, then sheltered the next. But, if you're unlucky, just when you've relaxed, the full force of the wind funneling down the harbour hits you. Then, when it's time to leave, you are never quite ready for the sudden transition from relative sheltered calm back to North Atlantic weather.
Of course, if you enter, visit and exit in calm weather, you'll think you've found a piece of Heaven on earth!
