Worst call in the history of sport.
My son, Mr. Seahawk, thinks last Sunday's pass was the worst decision in the history of sport. I pointed out the 1951 decision to call in Ralph Branca to pitch to Bobby Thompson was at least equally bad.

Pacers not drafting Larry Bird - IIRC, the guy they drafted instead was out of basketball in a year or two.

Re: Worst call in the history of sport.
I can't believe we don't have an A-Rod reference in this thread. Got to have one.
A-Rod in 2008 signed a 10 year, 275 million dollar deal with the Yankees. The deal still has three unexpired seasons, with 61 million, guaranteed, still to be paid.
Out of baseball all of last year on suspension for steroid use, A-Rod is 40 years old and has struggled with knee and ankle problems the last few years.
What's more, if he is able to hit another 4 home runs (which he should accomplish in the first 20 or so games of the season), as well as several other home run benchmarks, the Yankees will owe A-Rod an additional 30 million in bonuses. That's 30 million.
Astonishingly, the Yankees are still on the hook to A-Rod for 91 million dollars, potentially. Worst call in the history of sports?Comment
