Information, photos, diagrams and sources are sought on outboard mounts that could be attached to the topsides of a small sailing cruiser rather than on the stern.
The information is for a friend building an 18ft plywood yawl in Canberra, Australia. He modified the plans a little to produce a graceful counter stern. He's very proud of this and doesn't want to disfigure it with an engine on a conventional mount or to follow the designer's instructions and mount the engine inboard with a large piece cut out of the stern to allow it to kick up.
From and article by Roger C. Taylor in 'Still More Good Boats', International Marine, 1981, and a check of the Rozinante website, I have found several references to a removable motor bracket which apparently slides into a section of bronze track bolted to the topsides about amidships. There is one reference to a "Lunenberg motor mount".
Any help on locating such mounts or information that could help us to build them would be much appreciated. My email address is townjd@netspeed.com.au
Many thanks and happy sailing.

Cap Cod Shipbuilding makes a side mounted motor bracket for the H 12.5. The bracket attaches just aft of amidships. The other part of the bracket is for attaching the outboard motor. The parts go together with slotted openings. It makes mounting and unmounting the motor fairly easy. Perhaps it can be adapted for your use..
