This was taken almost thirty years ago by my friend Mark Beaumont, from the port launch. Mark was the ship's commercial manager, and he persuaded th Master, Callum Anderson, to drop the boat and steam in circles whist he took snaps.

Milford Sound is a special place. Mitre Peak is over 5,000' IIRC. We had a rare gem of a day when I was there.

We loved the penguins. There are Blue penguins all over.

We tramped out through the dunes at Sandfly Bay on the Otago Peninsula to watch Yellow-eyed penguins at their nesting burrows.

At Milford Sound, there might be Fiordland penguins, but I don't recall seeing one. Milford might be too far north.
