Jet Shapers

I've always opposed the idea of Taiwanese tools but I'm considering a 1 1/2 HP Jet shaper. Anyone have experience? Or for that matter Jet tools in general. Somehow I've always thought of them as a step up from say Grizzly.

Of course if anyone can steer me to some old iron I'd appreciate hearing about it.

I've got the Jet 1 1/2 hp shaper. Seems to work great for me. I think the newer Jet tools are nicer than the equivalent Deltas. Have you seen the new 14' Jet lathe? I want one of those. I mostly use the shaper for making cabinet doors and as a really nice router table. :D

Besides my regular work building cabinets, furniture and art work with the wife, I had a part time job for a couple years selling WW machines. Jet tools are a definite step up from Griz and most are on par with Delta or Powermatic which was bought by Jet a couple years back.

Thanks Steven for the prompt reply. That is more or less the use that I see for the tool. Do you feel that the spindle speed is fast enough for smaller router bits? Does the 1 1/2horse seem plenty for larger knives? I do believe that Delta now isn't what Delta used to be. If I had my choice I'd go with General of Canada but thats a bit much for a "really nice router table".
