I got my taxes back and I was thinking about buying a power washer for washing my truck, boat, ATV, and maintanace around the house. Anyone have any recommendation on which brand and if it should be gas or electric?

I have both. Think the electric ones are generally smaller and better for 'washing' compared to 'paint removal' etc.

remember the magic is in BOTH pressure and water volume (not much pressure in a fire hose but lots of volume - enough to do some real damage).

Biggest beef is cheap non flexible hose with the cheap electric ones. Always fighting the hose - just like those super cheap garden hoses.

Northern has a good selection and if you want a cheap deal thay normally have some at the outlet store in Hudson.715-377-1620 I like electric better than gas just because its one less engine to maintain.

Is the Boom Bay Bar still going? Last time I was there loooong ago it could have used a little pressure washing. "Friendly" staff though. smile.gif

About 7 years ago, after putting an addition on our old house, I decided would paint the whole affair. I though I should power wash the "old" house in preparation. To rent a washer cost about $150 for a weekend or there abouts. I decided to buy a small electric Kaarcher(sp?) for about $175. Turns out I did the whole old house in one day. I kept the washer for about 4 years untill it just kind of stopped working. Went back to HomeDepot & although I did not have a receipt and they did not have that model any more, they cut me a deal where I paid about $25 to cover the difference between the original MSRP and the current comparable model. I've now had that one about 3 years. I'll tell you, it's pissa. I know it doesn't have the power of a big gas model but it will take the scum and most of the barnacles off the bottom of the boat, clean the pool deck, wash the car, strip a reasonable amount of paint, etc. It's one of my favorite toys-I mean TOOLS. Gas would be nice but with this, all you do is plug it in and go. And if this one dies, I'd be happy to pay full price this time around if HomeDepot has changed policy.
