When I closed on my farm last November in the barn (boat shop) was an old Craftsman 12" radial arm saw. I took it apart this weekend because the head would not go up or down and gave it a general good cleaning and lubricating. The head was seized because the vertical shaft was rusted together. Some one twisted the gear teeth off the end of the horizontal rod that raises the head. Sears said that the part (gear) is obsolete. Any ideas where I can locate the gear. If all else fails I could have one machined.

Any help would be appriciated. Thanks

Did you ask your local Sears, or go through the online parts catalog?

NG59...try the online parts catalog. I've found several parts there that all the human employees said were not available. The last time I called the parts#, I couldn't understand the person who answered, and I guarantee that she didn't understand me.
