I recall a summer evening many years ago when I was visiting a pal in Narragansett, and we sat on the seawall as a huge full moon just rose out of the still sea from the east, and concurrently QE2 left Newport and came out, all lights ablaze. The memory of her passing in front of the moon is indelible to me.

Newport was wonderful in the 70s. Now it is overrun. Sad.

Interesting metaphor - how some folks want to skipper their own craft and others want to check themselves onto one of those huge tubs. Most folks that I know fall firmly into one camp or the other and wouldn't consider crossing over. My wife is a bit impatient with me, in that I only really want to travel by either sailboat or motorcycle. I've tried other methods and didn't like them.
